The consumer price index in Dubai rose to 104.08 points during the month of May 2022 compared to the previous month, where it registered 104.01 points, bringing inflation up to 4.71% on an annual basis compared to the same month 2021, and an increase of 0.06% on a monthly basis compared to April / April 2022, according to recent data released by Dubai Statistics Center.
The Emirate recorded annual “inflation” in May last year as a result of the rise in prices of 11 groups: transport (representing 9.32% of the weight of the index), which is the highest at a rate of 27.22%, and for that second: the group of entertainment, culture and sport (2.37% of the index), which increased by 22.62% The food and beverage group (11.66% of the index) increased by 8.50%, restaurants and hotels ( 6.10% of the index) with 5.07%, personal care, social protection and miscellaneous goods (5.10% of the index) with 2.46%, furniture, furnishings, household appliances and repairs (3.51% of the index) with 2.45%, the clothing and footwear group (4.96% of the index)) with 1.49%, information and communication (5.69% of the index) with 1.43%, the tobacco group (0.32% of the index ) by 1.03%, health (0.88% of the index) the index) by 0.89%, education (8.15 of the index) by 0.34%.
While prices of housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel (40.68% of the index) fell by 0.66% in May, and in terms of the insurance and finance group (1.26% of the index), it is recently has been introduced since the beginning of this year 2022, and is not compared to the same period in 2021.
On a monthly basis; Inflation rose by 0.06% last May due to the rise in prices for 5 consumption groups: food and beverages 0.85%, housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel 0.15%, furniture, furnishings, household appliances and repair 0, 46%, restaurants and hotels 0.25%, personal care, social protection and goods Miscellaneous 0.58%, while prices of 3 consumption groups fell: entertainment, sports and culture 1.46%, health 0.99%, as well as information and communication 0.05%. While the monthly prices for 5 consumption groups were stable: tobacco, clothing and footwear, health, education, insurance and financial services.
4.7% inflation in Dubai for the month of May .. and a decline in housing and electricity
