American Airlines has signed up with Jettainer’s Cool Management service to run its entire fleet of reefer containers.
The airline now has access to Jettainer’s own Cool Center of Excellence in Abu Dhabi, which is specifically responsible for managing temperature-controlled ULDs. The Cool Management service includes the leasing, managing, positioning and process-related monitoring of reefers.
Tom Grubb, global head of pharmaceuticals and healthcare, stated: “For many years, Jettainer has been a valuable partner in the management of our regular ULDs. Now, with the addition of Active temperature-controlled containers, we have comprehensive, end-to-end tracking and management of all ULD types used for our customers’ valuable cargo.”
Carsten Hernig, managing director of Jettainer, said: “The management of reefer containers is a very complex part of ULD management. With our expertise in global ULD management, we can help increase efficiency between all supply chain participants in this process as well. We are optimistic that we will be able to further expand this service.”
*Jettainer has also won a five year contract for container management and maintenance at Spanish airline Wamos Air.
The airline’s fleet of seven Airbus A330-200 and five Boeing 747-400 aircraft is primarily used for leisure charter services, although Wamos is also taking over charter flights for LATAM, Avianca and other major carriers including Condor, which outsourced its ULD management to Jettainer in 2006.
“Wamos Air is specialised in charter and ad hoc-flights, which requires utmost flexibility. For this purpose we are happy starting a partnership with Jettainer in ULD management,” said Salvador Martínez Prados, ground operations & commercial routes director.
“Their flexibility and airline experience gives us the utmost reliability we need in our business.”
