“Abu Dhabi Environment” wins Leadership Award in “LEED” design for sustainable buildings

Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi has won the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Award (Operations and Maintenance) version 4.1, presented by the American Green Building Council, the most widely used environmental rating system in the world. The authority was awarded this certificate in recognition of its outstanding efforts in the management of sustainable, healthy and environmentally friendly buildings and for its application of sustainability standards in three of its facilities.

The authority also achieved a platinum LEED certificate to accredit leadership in the application of energy and environmental protection systems in operation and maintenance for its headquarters in Abu Dhabi, the Al Mamoura building and for the Al Wathba Wetland Reserve, while the offices of the Environmental Protection Agency – Abu Dhabi in Al Ain city achieved a LEED Gold certificate for accreditation of leadership in the application of energy systems and environmental protection in operation and maintenance. The US Green Building Council has praised EAD’s sustainable management of utilities and its leadership in energy and environmental design.
