Abu Dhabi Municipality, in collaboration with its strategic partners, organized a series of events and awareness activities to celebrate the International Day of Older Persons, which fell yesterday, the first of October every year.

The events – which included visits from a group of senior citizens – were held in collaboration with the Family Development Foundation, Family Care Authority, Abu Dhabi General Command, Burjeel Medical City and Abu Dhabi Civil Defense Authority.

Events and visits by senior citizens aim to strengthen bonds of love and affection among community members, develop community awareness towards all groups, in addition to strengthening partnerships between Abu Dhabi City Municipality and strategic partners.

The event included the presentation of a workshop by the Family Care Authority on services meant for senior citizens and how to take advantage of them and respond to their inquiries. Burjeel Hospital also held a lecture on the programs and services that the hospital provides to senior citizens, providing free examinations, and giving those who wish to make an appointment for examinations. At the hospital, in addition to giving souvenirs to those in attendance.

At the end of the visit, which included a hospital and some residences, the municipal employees were keen to honor senior citizens and give them a set of gifts to draw a smile and joy on their faces.
