Abu Dhabi Police released a video showing the authorized and unauthorized public bicycles and electric scooters in collaboration with the Integrated Transport Centre.
She explained that two types of bicycles are allowed for use in Abu Dhabi, namely bicycles and manual and electric scooters, while confirming that single-seat electric bicycles, which have witnessed a wide spread on the emirate’s streets, are prohibited.
The Regulation on the Use of Bicycles and Electric Bicycles in the Emirate defines the specifications for bicycles that can be used as two-wheeled or more, not equipped with an automatic engine, and driven by the power of its passenger, while an electric scooter is a vehicle with two or more wheels , equipped with an electric motor and driven by the power of the electric motor or by the power of the passenger’s thrust and driven standing and without a seat.
