Adel Khuzam is the year’s best international poet 2021

The Committee of the International Center for Translation and Poetry Research in China voted by majority to award the Emirati poet Adel Khuzam the Best International Poet Award for 2021 for his clear contribution to strengthening the presence of poetry in the world through the ontology ( World Poetry Tree ), which he launched on the sidelines of the “Expo Dubai 2020” exhibition, with the participation of 405 poets from the world’s leading poets from more than 100 countries, including 13 Chinese poets who participated in their lyrics on the themes of love, hope and peace. The Ontology was launched at the UAE Pavilion under the patronage of Minister of Culture and Youth Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi.

In addition to the ontology, the poet Adel Khuzam participated with his lyrics in a number of Chinese poetry forums, including poems launched at the Dragon Boat Festival, one of the most famous traditional Chinese festivals, which represents the biggest traditional festivals in East Asia, on the 14th. His poems were also published in the International Bulletin for the Translation of World Poetry, edited by the Chinese poet Dr. Zhang Zhijie, better known by the nickname “Diablo”, is the head of the center and one of the most prominent Chinese practitioners of world poetry. This center, which was founded by Dr. Zhang was established in 1995 as one of the most prominent platforms for international poetry in China due to the distinguished participation of internationally renowned poets. Every year, his editorial board evaluates poetic contributions and achievements worldwide, and awards a number of prizes in poetry, the biggest of which is the best prize.An international poet, won by Khuzam in the last session.

Adel Khuzam expressed his delight at winning this award and thanked the Minister of Culture and Youth Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi for sponsoring the anthology of the “World Poetry Tree”, which is proof of the UAE’s interest in poetry as one of the state’s soft power elements. Khuzam believed that modern Emirati poetry is capable of achieving more achievements at the global level and that Emirati poetry carries a lot of artistic maturity, which qualifies it to reap more qualitative achievements, both Arab and international.

Adel Khuzam belongs to the generation of modernity in the UAE, who wrote the Arabic prose poem, and founded it together with a group of poets in the early eighties of the last century. He has previously published around 17 books, and won a number of Arabic and international literary awards.

And about his new poetics, Khuzam revealed that he is preparing to soon launch a collection of poems in French, which are texts not yet published in Arabic, and they consist of 230 poems titled “Poems in the Palm” that he wrote recently, and chose to publish them in French first, because French today is one of the languages ​​that has sensitivity Especially in tasting the hair.
