SHARJAH, 2nd February, 2023 (WAM) — The Dean of Student Affairs at Al Qasimia University organised an exhibition, titled “Public Safety Day” in cooperation with the Sharjah Police represented by its various departments, as well as the Sharjah Civil Defence Authority.
Chancellor of Al Qasimia University, Prof. Dr. Awad Al Khalaf, along with top officials from the university attended the event. The Sharjah Police introduced their departments to the students and made an awareness programme on drugs prevention and their harmful effects on young people.
The exhibition also aims to raise the level of awareness and a sense of security among students. The event drives home the dangers that students may face in the event of cyber blackmail. It also urges them to take precaution when dealing with strangers or unidentified people online. The students also learned about traffic laws and the latest technologies used by police. In addition, they learned how to extinguish fires, security methods inside closed places, and how to evacuate people in the event of a fire.
During the live demonstration, students learned about the K9 security inspection department for police dogs. They also learned how to identify the perpetrators of crimes, how to inspect the ports of entry, and which items are banned from entering the United Arab Emirates.
The Chancellor of Al Qasimia University emphasised the importance of the exhibition and the variety of awareness programmes it presents. He thanked the various departments of the Sharjah Police for their vital role in raising awareness among students with regard to the dangers of drugs and related laws.
