Barracuda Networks’ Cloud-to-Cloud Backup solution will now be delivered to customers in the United Arab Emirates from Microsoft’s local cloud data centres, said a company press release.
The new offering will run on Microsoft Azure and will help meet the country’s growing demand for cloud data protection that complies with local regulations.
In Barracuda’s recent study, data protection was highlighted as security and regulatory risk. As per the report, around 69% expressed concern about data storage being backed up outside of their geographic area. However, 7 out of 10 respondents indicated worry about meeting data privacy regulations.
According to Barracuda, their new offering allows users of Office 365 to store their backup data locally within the country, which is crucial for businesses operating in regulated industries and complying with local regulations.
“As more organisations move to the cloud, they are looking to protect their data, while being able to handle and store data locally. Microsoft advises customers to use a third-party backup and recovery provider, and with these new regions, we will be able to serve our customers while helping them comply with data regulations and policies,” said Chris Ross, SVP International, Barracuda.

Barracuda’s newest Cloud-to-Cloud Backup version provides a quick search and restoration experience for Office 365 data, including Teams, Exchange Online, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
In comparison to traditional backup and recovery solutions, it is a cloud-first solution that combines scale and reliability, rapid speed, and broad global coverage to protect Office 365 data born in the cloud.
