Bin Nakhira & Partners Makes High-Profile Hire

Arbitration and Construction expert headed to Bin Nakhira & Partners.

Heavyweight UAE law firm, Bin Nakhira & Partners (www.binnakhira.com) has expanded its team with partner hire of note in Abu Dhabi.

The firm confirmed its addition of arbitration and construction expert Fernando Ortega, who has worked with firms such as Freshfields, Allen & Overy, DWF, and Holland & Knight in the UAE.

Ortega, who leads Bin Nakhira & Partners’ Arbitration and Enforcement practice, has been involved in commercial, investment and construction disputes in the United States, Latin America, and the MENA region for claims over US$ 1 billion.

“The opportunity to work alongside Dr. Abdul Wahab Abdool who is considered the most reliable expert of UAE law when dealing with contractual issues and His Excellency Bin Nakhira’s knowledge and experience in resolving disputes will not only compliment my practice but provides a unique offering missing and that no other law firm in the UAE can provide,” Ortega stated.

According to his biography page, in addition to general arbitral disputes, he assists stakeholders in construction claims on matters such as acceleration, delays, disruption, and variations, and works with O&G sector clients on downstream, midstream, and upstream project related claims.

“Fernando’s addition to the team at Bin Nakhira & Partners reflects our continuing expansion and our hiring of top-tier practitioners from notable firms. His experience at top international law firms ensures that we continue to reinforce our clients’ trust in top-tier services,” said a statement from Ali Al-Alawi, managing partner of Bin Nakhira & Partners.

Mahmoud Abuwasel, the firm’s Partner and Head of Client Strategy stated that “Combining Fernando’s market-leading arbitration practice, especially in construction claims, with our existing leveraged government controversy practice will establish a best-in-class offering for our clients facing high-stakes disputes”.
