China’s Plywood Export Plunge in First Quarter of 2020

According to a report issued by the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO), China’s plywood exports for first quarter of 2020, when compared to the same period in 2019, suffered a loss of 85% in volume and 82% in value. The main markets for China’s plywood exports are the Philippines, U.K., Japan, the UAE and Vietnam, all which were significantly lower year-over-year. China’s imports of plywood were also down in the first quarter of 2020 by ~80% in both volume and value. China imports plywood from Russia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and Japan.
