Dubai Chambers announced a change in its senior management with the departure of Hamad Mubarak Buamim as Director General of the Chambers after 16 years of exceptional service.

A statement said Buamim will continue to support Dubai Chambers for the next three months, noting that the Vice President of International Relations at Dubai Chambers, Hassan Al Hashemi, has been assigned the duties of Acting Director General.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dubai Chambers, Abdulaziz Abdullah Al Ghurair, praised the crucial role played by Buamim in the growth and development of Dubai Chambers and his distinguished contribution to consolidating Dubai’s position as a strategic center for global trade.

He said: “Buamim has carried out his responsibilities to the fullest and achieved many distinguished achievements that had a major impact on business growth and stimulated innovation throughout the Foundation’s business. We would like to thank him for the great efforts he made to raise the profile of Dubai Chamber and transforming the emirate into a major business center in the region and the world.”

Al Ghurair continued: “Buamim’s outstanding achievements have played a key role in the continuation of Dubai Chambers’ success and a major contribution to achieving our management’s vision of promoting international trade, raising the level of local enterprise and accelerating the transition to a digital economy. ,” wishes him every success in his future endeavors.

For his part, Hamad Buamim said: “Dubai Chambers today serves more than 320,000 members doing business across a wide range of economic sectors. This is thanks to the unwavering support of our management and the directives of the Dubai Chambers Board of Directors.”

He added: “As I move to pursue new interests in several advisory and non-executive positions, I thank the management and team at Dubai Chambers for their dedication and commitment to achieving exceptional growth and expanding our geographic presence.”

According to the statement, during his tenure as General Manager of Dubai Chambers, Buamim managed to increase the number of Chamber members by more than four times from 80,000 members to more than 320,000 members, making Dubai Chamber one of the top 10 Chambers of Commerce in the world and the largest member organization in the Middle East and Africa.

Buamim also launched 12 international offices and reinforced Dubai Chambers’ focus on emerging markets, including Latin America and ASEAN countries.

Buamim also played an important role in opening the prospects of partnership with African countries and consolidating Dubai’s position as a global gateway to Africa. He also established the Dubai Center for Economic and Professional Entities and attracted more than 80 international bodies.

Buamim also founded the Center for Business Ethics, the first organization in Dubai to focus on corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Under the leadership of Buamim, Dubai Chambers has won many awards within the Dubai Government Excellence Program for the best performing institutions in terms of customer satisfaction/delight.

He was elected president of the World Federation of Chambers of Commerce of the International Chamber of Commerce, and his holding of this position helped to strengthen Dubai’s leading position in leading the activity of chambers of commerce worldwide.
