Dubai International Academy to host International Schools Theatre Association Festival

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – 2 November 2017: Dubai International Academy today announced that it will be hosting the ‘International Schools Theatre Association Festival’ from 2 – 4 November on the theme of ‘Third Culture Identity’.

Sol Abiad, a renowned professional theatre practitioner and Professor of Drama at Paris Sorbonne University, Abu Dhabi, will lead a series of practical workshops exploring the impact of multicultural Dubai.
The festival aims to explore how young individuals can use their own experiences of multiculturalism to make a difference through theatre. The theme was chosen to encourage the embracing of similarities amongst individuals in an ever-growing diverse world, and aims to teach students how to explore concepts such as identity and tolerance.
Commenting on the event, Ms. Pratibha Rao, Principal at DIA said: “Our students come from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds – these workshops will help them in exploring a unifying factor amongst themselves. At DIA, we strongly believe in providing our students with a holistic and world-class international education that will enable them to succeed not only academically, but also create well-rounded individuals who can contribute to the betterment of society”.
Dubai International Academy is a KHDA ‘Outstanding’ IB continuum school of Innoventures Education. DIA students’ accomplishments extend beyond academic excellence to achievements in Model United Nations, sports, art, music, drama, robotics, film making and a number of student initiated community service projects.
