DUBAI, 16th June, 2022 (WAM) — The Training and Development Centre at Emirates Health Services (EHS) has partnered with the American Heart Association (AHA) to organise an ‘Upskilling Course for Trainers of Trainers’ – the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region – targeting faculty members at the Basic Life Support programme.

The course is designed to promote sustainability in development efforts, as well as to enhance quality, performance, and work efficiency.

It forms part of the Centre’s plans to enhance the work environment and develop employees’ skills across all departments and facilities under the EHS umbrella, offering specialised training programmes designed to improve work mechanisms and fulfil EHS’ objectives to upgrade and develop the healthcare sector.

The course was attended by Dr. Kulthum Al Balushi, Director of the EHS Training and Development Centre, and Rami Khattar, General Manager for MENA at the American Heart Association, along with faculty members from various accredited training centres in the UAE.

The programme underlined the importance of keeping up with latest AHA recommendations, such as clinical guidelines, scientific material, educational methods, and health simulation training.

Attendees were introduced to the ideal mechanisms for selecting and training potential trainers, in order to ensure best practices are observed, and implement the most advanced levels of training across the UAE. This, in turn, is reflected in overall better treatment services and the increased survival rates from cardiac and respiratory arrest in different age groups.

Dr. Kulthum Al Balushi asserted that Emirates Health Services operates in accordance with well determined tactics, designed to upskill and empower trainers, offering them a series of advanced training programmes to develop their performance. “This is key for building an effective health system supported by qualified training professionals, capable of achieving EHS’ visions and strategies for continuous and sustainable enhancement and refinement of skills among these target groups, which, in turn, serves to motivate them to provide top-quality, innovative healthcare services,” she noted.

At the conclusion of the programme, Dr. Al Balushi received a certificate of appreciation presented by the AHA General Manager for MENA Rami Khattar, in recognition of the EHS Training and Development Centre’s efforts and pioneering role in promoting healthy lifestyles in the UAE, free of heart disease and strokes.

Emirates Health Services strives to enhance the efficiency of the federal health sector in the UAE, and to that end, provides advanced health and treatment services, promotes preventative measures to combat epidemics and diseases, and drives sustainable development in the healthcare sector.

EHS also implements strategic policies and standards related to public health, the healthcare sector as a whole, and any preventative measures set by the Ministry of Health and Prevention, in addition to proposing legislation for the development of the sector across the UAE.
