São Paulo, August 24 / WAM / His Excellency Ibrahim Salem Al Alawi, Consul General of the UAE in the State of Sao Paulo, attended the opening ceremony of the UNESCO-Sharjah Prize for Arab Culture in its 19th edition and honored the winners of the 18th edition, which was held at the headquarters of the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce in the State of São Paulo.
In the opening speech during the ceremony, His Excellency expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Councilor and Ruler of Sharjah, for his role and efforts in the cultural field at the local, regional and international levels, which resulted in the collaboration between UNESCO and the Emirate of Sharjah to sponsor the UNESCO Sharjah Prize for Arab Culture , which is awarded annually to individuals, groups or institutions that have worked to contribute to the spread of Arab art and culture.
He explained that the lofty goal of this award is to shed light on and support Arabic works, support those responsible for them, and encourage others to contribute to the spread of art, culture and the Arabic language around the world.
