Emirates News Agency – Emirates ID and Wajib sign MoU to consolidate concepts on volunteering

ABU DHABI, August 11 / WAM / The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Wajeb Voluntary Association, to consolidate the concepts of volunteering through awareness and training programs and voluntary participation.

On the sidelines of the agreement, Sheikh Tahnoun bin Khalifa bin Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Wajeb Voluntary Society, received from His Excellency Major General Khamis Muhammad Al Kaabi, Director General of Support Services at the Authority, a membership card for the “Voluntary Imprint” team.

The chairman of the association’s executive committee emphasized that the UAE embraces pioneers in volunteering who are ready and willing to do and help, and pointed out that the Wajeb Volunteer Association is fully prepared to coordinate efforts and provide its expertise, thus that volunteering is effective and giving is sustainable.

He praised the organizers of this initiative in the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security for their efforts to institutionalize volunteering in the United Arab Emirates and pointed to the importance of the memorandum, which comes within the framework of consolidation and building of partnership relations and integration between the public and non-profit associations.

The memorandum was signed at the Authority’s headquarters yesterday, Wednesday, by His Excellency Major General Khamis Mohammed Al Kaabi, Director General of Support Services in the Authority, and His Excellency Mansour Ishaq Suleiman, Board Member of the Association, Chairman of the Administrative and Financial Department. Affairs Committee and Volunteer Affairs.

The memorandum aims to articulate the foundations of organized volunteering and strengthen the means of cooperation to create an encouraging, safe and stimulating volunteering environment that embodies the principle of participation, building volunteering skills, developing the spirit of active citizenship through integration with volunteering, and carry out activities to serve the local community.

The agreement allowed for the dissemination of the culture of voluntary work, encouraging the agency’s employees to engage in voluntary activities and emphasized the importance of their role in supporting community efforts and strengthening a climate of security and stability in society.

It also focused on implementing joint programs that would enrich knowledge and raise awareness of volunteer culture, prepare joint studies and research, organize conferences, seminars, training programs and information councils, as well as exchange expertise, information and specialized experiences, while the two parties exchanged commemorative shields.

The signing ceremony of the memorandum was attended by the Authority, Brigadier General Tariq Salem bin Rabea, Director of the Financial Resources Department, Captain Mohamed Hassan Saeed Al Hammadi, Head of the Strategy and Future Department, and a number of officers and volunteers attached, and from the Association, Maryam Al Ahmadi, Head of the Strategic Planning Committee, and Ahmed Al Hamida, Managing Director.
