DUBAI, 22nd August / WAM / Emirates Transport today launched the activities of its annual initiative “School Transport Week” as part of its intensive preparations to welcome the new school year 2022/2023, which will continue throughout the current week through implementation of a package of training programmes, awareness talks and accompanying events at stations and locations associated with the regions at the state level and in collaboration with a group of public and private agencies.
Jassim Al Marzouqi, Managing Director of School Transport at Emirates Transport, explained that the initiative seeks to ensure a successful and efficient launch of the school transport service for all students on the first day of school, whether in schools or universities, where drivers, transport and safety managers and assigned work crews are fully prepared to perform the required tasks and ensure the delivery of all school transport requirements.
He pointed out that the initiative includes the enrollment of all drivers and supervisors in intensive training and awareness programs aimed at enhancing their skills and capabilities, raising awareness of the rules and procedures adopted to provide service to students on school buses in accordance with the approved legislation, introducing them to student safety procedures and elements of safe driving, providing first aid and evacuating the bus in case of emergency, as well as implementing Operation Demo for buses on daily routes to and from public and private schools in the country.
Al-Marzouqi added that the School Transport Week is planned to conclude with a ceremony to honor outstanding drivers and supervisors as well as supporting agencies and participation in the initiative, noting that Emirates Transport has completed all plans to rehabilitate its fleet dedicated to the school. and educational transport in the country, where preventive and periodic maintenance operations are carried out and ensure the readiness of the system. The safety and security of students on buses, in addition to meeting all the preventive and preventive measures required by the concerned authorities in country in relation to “Covid 19” to ensure the health of students during their daily movements to and from the study sites.
He explained that the company has completed its preparations to provide school transport to 170,000 students studying in 504 public schools, where 4,161 buses, 4,200 drivers and 4,500 transport and safety supervisors have been assigned to public schools and 54,794 students will be transferred to 122 private schools through 2,256 buses and 2,256 drivers The number of transferred students from universities, colleges and institutes is more than 16,000 as more than 800 buses and 800 drivers have been assigned to provide service for them.
