Ras Al Khaimah, 17 June / WAM / The Environmental Protection and Development Authority of Ras Al Khaimah has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Ras Al Khaimah ports with the aim of strengthening joint cooperation between the two sides.
The memorandum was signed by Dr. Saif Mohammed Al Ghais, Director General of the Environmental Protection and Development Authority, and Roger Claskin, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Ports.
Dr. Al Ghais reaffirmed that the Memorandum of Understanding governs the process of providing authority to Ras Al Khaimah ports with data from the floating monitoring stations in the emirate’s waters, which use monitoring technology to measure the physical and chemical properties of seawater and the changes that occur in it, and to enable the authority and the competent authorities to develop expected scenarios for the state of the marine environment and to take the necessary measures Corrective or preventive decisions are needed to raise the level of quality control processes over activities and phenomena affecting the environment.
The two parties agreed to coordinate and cooperate in carrying out joint exercises such as protecting the environment from oil pollution and exchanging data.
