Emirates News Agency – “Sharjah Heritage” participates in Liwa Ajman Dates and Honey Festival

Sharjah, August 8 / WAM/ Sharjah Institute for Heritage participated in the activities of the seventh edition of “Liwa Ajman Dates and Honey Festival” organized by the Department of Tourism Development over a period of 3 days at the Emirates Hospitality Hall.

His Excellency Dr. Abdul Aziz Al Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, said that participation in the seventh edition aims to strengthen the country’s position as an important destination on the local heritage tourism map, as it constitutes an important station for heritage lovers and those interested in the goodness of the Emirates. The production of dates is an event that is eagerly awaited by all, considering that the dates represent a great symbol on the table of the hospitality of the Emirates and its connection to the local heritage, as the palm is an important icon, especially in UAE’s historical heritage.

The Institute’s participation varied over the three days of the festival and included several workshops in the world of traditional handicrafts presented by the Traditional Crafts Center and the Shaml Association for Arts, Folk Heritage and Theatre, such as the jarban making workshop, the rope necklace workshop, the wicker fluff workshop, in addition to to display palm products and industries, as well as educational workshops for children such as the Clay Making workshop and organizing an exhibition of publications where all the Institute’s publications were exhibited during the days of the festival.
