ABU DHABI, August 4, WAM / The National Archives and the National Library continues to prepare the necessary arrangements to hold its seventh virtual symposium within its 2022 cultural season on August 24, entitled “Ways to Benefit from Oral Memory in Preserving History, ” with the participation of a number of experts, researchers and specialists.
The symposium highlights the importance of oral history to document the secondary events recorded on the pages of history. However, it was preserved in the memory of the narrators who witnessed events before the establishment of the association, the methods of accessing knowledge preserved in the memory of older citizens, and the possibility of benefiting from the output of oral memory, especially since the National Archives and The library has pioneering experience in this area.
This symposium, organized by the National Archives and National Library, aims to encourage senior citizens and residents to document their memories in the oral history archives of the National Archives and Library, for the service of the UAE’s glorious history and heritage, and preservation of values, principles , customs and traditions that the UAE community is proud of.
