ABU DHABI, 13 July / WAM / The green destination in the heart of the UAE’s capital, Umm Al Emarat Park, provided ten tips to improve the concept of sustainability, based on its belief that protecting the environment is everyone’s responsibility in the light of its commitment to environmentally friendly practices to provide a recreational and sustainable destination for all members of the emirate community.
Umm Al Emarat Park is committed to supporting the efforts of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment in the field of sustainability in accordance with government directives to achieve a sustainable society.
The park, which was established in 1982 to serve the residents and visitors of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, uses an environmentally friendly approach in all its activities as it uses an environmentally friendly irrigation system that reduces water waste and supplies the plants with their water needs for the required time by taking with respect to external temperatures.
The park has saved more than 200 trees that are more than 20 years old, “some of which are among the oldest in Abu Dhabi,” by uprooting them and replanting them at their original locations throughout the park.
The park relies on waste recycling to produce the necessary fertilizer for plants and trees by recycling about 30 tons of agricultural waste annually to cover 70 percent of its need for organic fertilizer.
The ten tips that everyone can benefit from to adopt a more sustainable daily lifestyle included placing recyclable bags near the door of the house or in the car to avoid forgetting them when shopping next time, as well as looking for options , which helps reduce energy consumption when purchasing different types of food Appliances and replacing bulbs with more energy efficient “LEDs” LEDs.
In addition to making use of leftovers and other organic waste to make fertilizer suitable for different agricultural needs and use the timer for air conditioning to ensure that energy is saved during the day and not to dispose of clothes and personal or household appliances before making sure that they can be reused or reused .. And the adoption of recyclable water bottles or installation of a water filter to reduce the consumption of plastic bottles, growing vegetables in the home garden to reduce pollution associated with the production of purchased materials, buying food packed with environmentally friendly and recyclable materials to completely reduce waste and select branded products that use responsible and sustainable methods in its operation.
