The Committee of the International Center for Translation and Poetry Research in China voted by majority vote to award Emirati poet Adel Khuzam the Best International Poet Award for the year 2021 for his clear contribution to increasing the presence of poetry in the world through his ontology (World Poetry Tree) , which he launched on the sidelines of Expo 2020 Dubai. Featuring 405 of the world’s leading poets from more than a hundred countries, including 13 Chinese poets, who shared their lyrics on themes of love, hope and peace. The Ontology was launched at the UAE Pavilion under the patronage of Her Excellency Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Youth.

In addition to the ontology, the poet Adel Khuzam participated with his lyrics in a number of Chinese poetry forums, including poems launched at the Dragon Boat Festival, one of the most famous traditional Chinese festivals, which represents the biggest traditional festivals in East Asia, on the 14th. In the International Bulletin for the Translation of World Poetry, edited by the great Chinese poet Dr. Zhang Zhiji, known as “Diablo”, is the head of the center and one of the most prominent Chinese practitioners of world poetry. This center, which was founded by Dr. Zhang was established in 1995 as one of the most prominent platforms for international poetry in China due to the distinguished participation of internationally renowned poets. Every year, his editorial board evaluates poetic contributions and achievements worldwide and presents a series of awards in poetry, among which the biggest is the Best International Poet Award, which Khuzam won in the last session.

He also thanked Her Excellency Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Youth for her patronage of the ontology (World Poetry Tree), as evidenced. of the United Arab Emirates’ interest in poetry as one of the state’s soft power elements. Khuzam said that modern Emirati poetry is capable of achieving more results at the global level and that the Emirati poem has a lot of artistic maturity that qualifies it to reap more qualitative results at the Arab and international levels.
Adel Khuzam belongs to the generation of modernity in the Emirates, who wrote the Arabic prose poem and founded it together with a group of poets in the early eighties of the last century. The Italian International (Toliola) Prize for Poetry in the year 2020 and the Union of Hispanic Writers awarded him the Silver Shield for his contribution to the dissemination of poetry worldwide in the year 2021. In the Arab world, the poet Adonis Adel Khuzam’s book (The Naked Spring) considered the most new and insightful book of poetry among most books of Arabic poetry in the first quarter of the twenty-first century.
And about his new poetic text after winning this prize, Khuzam confirmed that he is preparing to launch soon a collection of poems in French, which are texts not yet published in Arabic, especially sensitive to hair taste.
