ABU DHABI, 25th May, 2022 (WAM) — Ernst Peter Fischer, German Ambassador to the UAE, said the selection of Germany as a guest of honour for the 31st edition of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF) for the second time underscores its relations with the UAE.
In his statement to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Fischer stressed that the fair is a leading international platform for exchanging knowledge in the UAE, noting that Germany’s participation in the event is characterised by a full programme of discussions in its 440-metre square pavilion.
Germany has a rich culture with many literary and artistic achievements, and is showcasing influential innovations through an open international platform designed to facilitate the exchange of expertise and ideas, he added.
The fair is a leading regional and international annual cultural event that brings together active players in the global publishing industry in the Middle East and North Africa region and provides promising opportunities to form new partnerships and learn about the latest trends and developments in the industry.
The fair is a key cultural platform aimed at book lovers, with the number of participants exceeding 150,000 visitors and over 1,000 exhibitors annually.
This year’s edition witnessed the launch of a new initiative, which showcases the achievements of the Egyptian intellectual, Taha Hussain.
