ABU DHABI, 13th October, 2023 (WAM) — Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, Secretary-General of the UAE Media Council, said that the second edition of the Global Media Congress (GMC), constitutes a global platform that opens horizons of dialogue with media persons, and extends bridges of communication to draw new partnerships that will enrich the media scene and consolidate the UAE’s stature as a major contributor to the media industry.
The Global Media Congress is hosted by the UAE, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court.
In a statement to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Al Shehhi said that GMC is a significant opportunity to shed light on the UAE’s media experience and highlight the accomplishments achieved by the country’s media sector to participants from different countries.
He stressed that the Emirati experience in the media industry is influential and unique and still achieving continuous successes thanks to the UAE’s vision, which is based on anticipating the future and utilising opportunities to serve the country’s development goals.
Al Shehhi pointed out that the media sector is growing at a rapid pace, driven by the environment that encourages relevant investment and attracts talent, and government policies that support the media industry, adding that the UAE has always been a pioneer in designing the future of media.
He said that the topics presented by GMC are in line with the vision of the UAE Media Council and its strategic objectives to empower and develop the media industry, explore its variables, requirements and opportunities, and employ new media tools and innovative technologies.
Al Shehhi continued, “We live in an era of opportunities and partnerships, as the media industry is going through a phase that is witnessing changes that carry with it huge development opportunities, while new technology offers broad horizons for the growth and prosperity of the media industry.”
It is worth noting that the Global Media Congress, slated to take place from 14th to 16th November, will have a wide variety of programmes and exhibitions, focusing on the most relevant issues related to the future of the media sector.
The three-day Congress is organised by ADNEC Group in strategic partnership with Emirates News Agency (WAM) at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
Under the slogan ‘Shaping the Future of the Media Industry’, the Congress will include a three-day conference with over 30 sessions in which globally prominent media leaders and scholars will discuss vital issues relevant to the industry. The main themes that will be deliberated upon this year will include innovation, media education, sports journalism, and environmental journalism and the role of the youth.
