Sheikha Shaikha bint Saif bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, the wife of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Adviser to the UAE President, and Honorary Chairperson and Life Patron of the Make-A-Wish Foundation UAE, lauded the recent efforts of the foundation’s action team and their ability to grant 353 wishes to sick children, despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sheikha Shaikha also pointed out that until the end of June 2022, the foundation has managed to grant 55 percent of wishes made this year, with 169 wishes being granted in the UAE, 108 in Jordan and 76 in Egypt for children from 26 different nationalities suffering from 66 types of serious diseases.
“This year, we are proud to have also granted wishes in Egypt. We are also pleased to say that the Make-A-Wish Foundation in the UAE managed to achieve this, in cooperation with the Magdi Yacoub Global Heart Foundation in Aswan and the Abu al-Rish Children’s Hospital,” she added.
She then noted that the foundation’s team managed to place a smile on the faces of sick children, most notably after the period of quarantine that affected everyone during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sheikha Shaikha stressed that the foundation is looking forward to the second half of 2022, to continue implementing its noble strategy and drawing more smiles on children’s faces.
