ABU DHABI, 23rd October, 2023 (WAM) — The Committee on Aviation Environmental Protection (CAEP), part of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), has elected Mariam Al Balushi, Director of the Environment Department at the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), as its Deputy Chairperson.
The appointment is a recognition of the UAE’s prominent role in spearheading key climate change and environmental protection initiatives in the civil aviation sector at both regional and international levels.
The decision was made during the second meeting of the Steering Group for the 13th session of the ICAO Committee on Aviation Environmental Protection, held in Takamatsu, Japan, from 16th to 20th October, 2023.
The committee’s 31 member states unanimously selected Al Balushi.
