Places of worship reopen tomorrow in the UAE

Having been closed 16 March, and throughout Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr, places of worship are now ready to welcome individuals again on 1 July. The decision follows multiple sessions of sanitisation in common areas such as car parks, entrances and main prayer halls as well as implementing social distancing rules for worshippers.

Authorities have decided that the practices shall continue to function at a 30 per cent capacity as of now so Friday prayers should continue to be performed at home. It is also recommended that the elderly and children under 12 should not attend prayers in common areas, as well as any individuals with chronic illness.

Indviduals must carry their personal prayer mats and Qurans and keep a distance of three metres between one another. Furthermore, as in to other public places, masks should be worn and physical greetings must be avoided.

Worshippers are required to download the Al Hosn app prior to entering any place of worship for contact-tracing purposes.

Roadside mosques, mutual prayer areas in malls and places of worship in industrial areas will remain closed.
