RAK Ruler receives UAE Rugby Federation president, members

RAS AL KHAIMAH, 25th August, 2022 (WAM) — H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, highlighted the critical role of sports in enhancing the UAE’s regional and international presence and stature.

Supporting national sports is part of the process of showcasing the UAE’s significant overall development, he added.

Sheikh Saud made this statement today while receiving, in his palace in Saqr bin Mohammed City, Sheikh Mohammed bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Rugby Federation, Qais Abdullah Al Dhalei, President of the Asian and Arab Rugby Federations and Vice President of the UAE Rugby Federation, and several members of the federation.

During the meeting, Sheikh Saud lauded the federation’s significant efforts to promote the sport and train talented cadres from across the country.

“Sports are part of the identity and culture of the Emirati people,” he said, affirming the importance of the sector, which showcases the significant overall development and progress witnessed by the country.

He also highlighted the importance of the federation’s efforts to enable the Emirati youth to compete against their counterparts from around the world.

While being briefed about the federation’s plans and programmes and future local and international tournaments, Sheikh Saud noted the importance of supporting the youth and advancing their skills and talents.
