Charterhouse is working with a global company in the oilfield services / engineering sector, that is looking to hire a Lawyer with at least 6 – 10 years’ experience to join its Dubai based legal team. The business is looking for an individual with experience in the Oil & Gas sector, with understanding of commercial contract review, negotiation and drafting.
About the role
The role will involve an interesting broad reaching Legal Counsel position, working closely with the main Stakeholders, business and external Lawyers in relation to the legal aspects of the company’s operations in the Middle East region and internationally. This role will also include working with the other main geographical regions the company operates in, particularly Russia, the US and Latin America.
This is a mixed remit covering legal matters relating to projects, commercial, supply, finance agreements. Additionally, you will cover day to day commercial contracts, managing external counsel, liaising with human resources on employment matters, as required and covering compliance matters.
The successful candidate should be a qualified Lawyer with c.6 – 10 years’ experience relating to Oil & Gas or engineering sectors. You should have a commercial outlook and experience of drafting, reviewing, negotiating and managing high value agreements.
This is an entrepreneurial but hands on role, so not suitable for a Senior Lawyer used to delegating much of the legal work. This would be a good move for a Lawyer already working in-house or looking to make their first move from private practice to an in-house position.
The role will involve regular travel across the Middle East, (i.e. KSA, Kuwait etc.), as well as to Moscow and elsewhere internationally as required, so individuals should be flexible to travel. There is a preference for individuals already in the UAE with regional experience. Arabic language skills are not required. A competitive tax free salary and benefits on offer.
