SHARJAH, 30th March, 2022 (WAM) — H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the Sharjah Performing Arts Academy (SPAA), Wednesday witnessed the “Nimrod” play presented by the Academy’s third-year students.
Dr. Sheikh Sultan stressed the importance of the Academy in promoting Arab theatre by qualifying its affiliates with the best methods and skills. He was impressed with the students’ performance in producing the show according to the writer’s perspective and bringing the text to life.
Sheikh Sultan said that theatre has been his passion since childhood, and made him study the art of theatre throughout his life, stressing his constant support for theatre and the Academy’s students.
Dr. Peter Paulo, SPAA’s Director, expressed gratitude to the Ruler of Sharjah for his constant support to the Academy and its students and for attending the first theatrical performances by the Academy since outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Dr. Paulo indicated that the students are keen to do more work and improve their skills and knowledge, appreciating the tremendous support of Sheikh Sultan.
“Nimrod” is one of Sheikh Sultan bin Mugammad’s famous works, and is about the noted King Nimrod, the Ruler of Babylon and King of Assyria.
The play was watched by Abdullah Al Owais, Head of the Department of Culture, and several other officials.
