Sharjah is gearing up for the launch of the Sharjah Summer Festival 2018, which is kicking off on July 11 and concluding in August.

The event, organised by Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) in partnership with government and private entities, will encourage families to participate in a wide variety of thrilling events, entertainment and cultural activities.

The unique festival will work to attract both residents and visitors through creative marketing campaigns and a number of promotions in order to boost Sharjah’s image as a family destination.

Chairman, SCTDA, HE Khalid Jasim Al Midfa declared: “The festival will promote Sharjah’s tourism, cultural and amusing events, revitalise several tourism campaigns and diversify its leisure activities to attract international visitors. It is also part of our strategy to underline our attractions to the GCC market which remains one of our largest source markets.”

Al Midfa explained that the event is going to play a major role in transforming Sharjah into an important centre for culture, heritage and arts in the region.

He continued: “We will focus on delivering memorable experiences to all kinds of tourists who are visiting Sharjah this summer season. At SCTDA, we have carefully lined up all activities to guarantee that they correspond to our objective of enhancing Sharjah’s status as a family-oriented destination at the local, regional, and global levels. Our creative marketing campaigns and brilliant promotional offers have already been set to ensure the festival’s success.”

Sharjah Summer Festival’s activities are divided into two sections: indoor events at commercial centres and closed sites and outdoor activities on beaches and waterfronts. All indoor events will take place in popular shopping centres, hotels and Expo Centre Sharjah, and include carnivals, theatres, discounts, entertainment activities, competitions and a children’s corner at Sharjah Expo.
