Abu Dhabi: MI Emirates 139, Gulf Giants 143-5 – Gulf Giants won by five wickets
Shimron Hetmyer hit the final ball of the match for six as Gulf Giants saw off MI Emirates to go back to the top of the International League T20 table.
Hetmyer was left needing three from the final delivery to take the Giants to victory, after a disciplined bowling performance – led by Chris Jordan – had restricted MI Emirates to 139 from 19.5 overs.
And when Jordan Thompson bowled the West Indies international a knee-roll high full toss on middle stump, Hetmyer obliged with a huge swing over midwicket to secure a five-wicket win at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium.

The Giants, who have now won five of their eight matches so far this season, found the chase of a relatively modest target to be more than a little tricky.
While Tom Banton and James Vince put on 61 for the first wicket, it took the pair nine overs. Banton made 45 – the top score of the day across both sides – while Vince was first man out for the Giants for 26.
Chris Lynn (28) and Gerhard Erasmus (20) both contributed, as the Giants edged closer to victory, with Trent Boult (0-14 in four overs) particularly miserly for MI Emirates.
In the end, 11 was needed off the final over. And Hetmyer had enough.
Earlier, Jordan recorded impressive figures of 3 for 12 in 3.5 overs to spearhead the Giants’ bowling efforts. Jordan was supported by David Wiese (2-14 in four overs) and Dominic Drakes (2 for 21 in four), while Nicholas Pooran top-scored for MI with 42 in 29 balls.
