We are seeking a Strategic Planning Director for a design and fashion client based in Dubai. This person will be responsible for developing a comprehensive strategy for the company and to meet the following key objectives:
  •  Raise the profile of Dubai as a regional and global destination for design
  • Increase the economic contribution of Dubai’s design industry
  • Create a vibrant and inclusive multi-cultural society, a city that is attractive for residents and tourists, and a global centre for trade and tourism.
  • Lead the annual strategy development process, including the following activities:
  • Assess the strengths, weaknesses and current competitive position of Dubai’s design industry including value-chain analysis, benchmarking of other cities that have successfully created design clusters, analysis of requirements of local/global design players
  • Develop clear strategic framework that translates the vision and mission into strategic objectives and priority themes
  • Identify and prioritise strategic initiatives that support the objectives, including:
  •  Support talent pool development by defining initiatives to increase the size and skills of design talent across Dubai
  •  Coordinate on education outreach programs.
  • Foster entrepreneurship and innovation in the design industry
  • Foster dynamic industry ecosystems, including collaboration/networking amongst players, fostering linkage between academia, government and the private sector etc.
  • Develop clear implementation plan including resourcing requirements and risk analysis
  •  Define, prioritize and cascade strategic key performance indicators (KPIs) 
  •  Provide high-quality strategic research, intelligence and insights on Dubai’s design industry e.g. annual industry trend reports, white papers on specific topics
  • Work in partnership with other bodies to deliver support to the design industry.
Experience required:
  • Advanced degree, preferably MBA from a top-tier institution, or in the liberal arts from a reputed university.
  • 10 years’ experience working in a design or fashion organization; or 10 years’ experience working in a reputed consulting firm’s design and fashion practice
  • Experience in industry development projects focused on design sector
  • Arabic language skills preferred, but not necessary
