The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Bassam Ibrahim, discussed today with the Chargé d’Affairs of the United Arab Emirates Embassy in Damascus, Abdul Hakim Al-Nuaimi, the relations of joint cooperation in the scientific and research fields.
Minister Ibrahim affirmed the aspiration to expand cooperation between universities and educational institutions in both countries and the possibility of signing a scientific research agreement between Syrian and Emirati universities, holding scientific conferences and exchanging scientific research that serves economic and social development.
Ibrahim presented an overview of the higher education system in Syria, the expansion of scientific disciplines and patterns of higher education such as virtual education, open education, and integration between public and private universities.
In turn, the Chargé d’Affairs of the UAE Embassy in Damascus affirmed that Syria is an ancient country with a civilized history, and that the relations between the two brotherly countries are strong and distinguished, expressing his country’s desire to develop joint cooperation in all fields and looking forward to establishing cooperation between higher education and scientific research institutions in both countries.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Fadia Deeb, Deputy Minister for Scientific Research and Hospitals Affairs, Dr. Abdul Latif Hanano, Deputy Minister for Educational Affairs, and Dr. Aqil Mahfoud, Director of Cultural Relations in the Ministry.
