Western Union Digital integrates UAE Pass into wu.com

Western Union Digital has integrated UAE Pass into wu.com. Western Union and Al Fardan Exchange have announced an upgrade to Western Union’s digital client experience in the UAE with the integration of the “UAE Pass” into wu.com and the Western Union mobile app. Western Union is one of the first financial services firms in the UAE to use this revolutionary National Digital Identity solution.

Customers will be able to take advantage of the UAE Pass solution’s instant authentication and complete their registration and identity verification in just a few clicks, eliminating the need for in-person authentication. Customers will now be able to send money to family and friends around the world 24 hours a day, seven days a week, through Western Union’s global financial network of billions of bank accounts, millions of wallets and cards, and more than half a million retail locations in more than 200 countries and territories.

UAE Pass is a collaboration between the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), the Abu Dhabi Digital Authority, and the Dubai Digital Authority, with the goal of providing a single trusted digital identity solution for service providers in the UAE while maintaining a high level of security and a seamless user experience. It also has the assistance of important strategic partners such as the Ministry of Interior, Federal Identity and Citizenship, and all of the UAE’s Digital Authorities.

In January 2019, Western Union launched its mobile app and redesigned its website in the UAE, under the licence of its digital partner Al Fardan Exchange, allowing customers to send money to their loved ones around the world from the comfort of their own homes, with payouts at Western Union’s global network of bank accounts, wallets, and Agent locations. They can use debit, credit, or bank transfers to pay for transactions on the website or within the app.
