ABU DHABI, 23rd May, 2022 (WAM) — The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), and the Higher Organising Committee of the Zayed Charity Marathon, have signed a cooperation and partnership agreement to support the marathon’s activities and achieve strategic goals and common principles that unite the two sides’ efforts in providing help to treat patients, and financing and supporting related scientific research.
The agreement was signed by Lt. General Mohammed Hilal Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Zayed Charity Marathon Supreme Committee, and Dr. Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi, ERC Secretary-General.
Commenting on the agreement, Al Kaabi said, “This agreement is part of the efforts of the Higher Organising Committee of the Zayed Charitable Marathon to expand collaboration with various relevant state agencies and institutions, and with civil society organisations working in the same field of our interests and efforts to achieve the noble goals that unite us, for which the marathon has been established under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.”
For his part, Dr. Al Falahi said, “We at the Emirates Red Crescent are pleased to be partners in this global humanitarian sporting event, which is held under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. It bears the name of the late Sheikh Zayed and embodies the principles and human values that he had instilled in the hearts of his children and people.”
The Zayed Charitable Marathon will be held in Abu Dhabi this year at the end of October or the first week of November at Yas Marina Circuit, in cooperation with the ERC and with the participation of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.
The proceeds of this year’s edition of the marathon will be directed to the organ donation programme, whereby donations for the benefit of this initiative will be given through the ERC in accordance with procedures and controls in place.
