4 tips from “Sharjah Social” for students’ families to prepare their children for school

The Department of Social Services in Sharjah has given 4 tips to students’ families to prepare their children for school, with the start of the new school year approaching the end of this month.

The department’s advice included adjusting the bedtime to suit the child before school starts, loving the child at school and not reminding the child to study in the form of intimidation or negativity, listening and discussing the child’s questions and fears, shopping for school and getting the child to to participate in purchases.

The Sharjah Private Education Authority had set the calendar for the next academic year; For private schools using the ministerial curriculum, the first term starts on 29 August, while the winter break is set from 12 December 2022 to 29 December 2022, noting that the second term starts on 2 January 2023, with the spring break from 27 March to 13 April 2023.

The authority clarified that the third semester will start on April 17, 2023, with the students’ final year ending on June 29 next year and then the next academic year starting on August 28, 2023.

For schools using other foreign curricula, the academic year begins on August 29, while the winter break begins on December 12 and continues until December 29, and students resume work on January 2, 2023.

The Sharjah Private Education Authority stated that with regard to the spring break for these curricula, the school must choose to apply one of the two options, the first option 3 weeks from March 27, 2023 to April 13, 2023, and the second option two weeks from 27 March to 6 April 2023, in addition the School is free to specify 5 separate or consecutive days during the academic year.

Pupils will resume work in schools that chose the first option on 17 April 2023 and in schools that chose the second option on 10 April, with the summer holidays starting on 29 June next year, while the new school year begins in August 28, 2023.
