The General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs, represented by the Department of International Agreements and Intellectual Property of the Department of Policies and Governance, received a delegation from the Japanese Foreign Trade Authority “JETRO” in Dubai with the aim of discussing strengthening cooperation in the field of intellectual property protection property rights and reviewing the role of the general customs administration in the enforcement of property rights strategies.
The Department of International Agreements and Intellectual Property Law of Abu Dhabi Customs held a meeting with representatives of the Japanese Foreign Trade Authority at the administration’s headquarters in Masdar City, where they discussed mechanisms to strengthen cooperation between the two parties through coordination to hold training workshops during the third quarter of 2022, and work on the registration of Japanese trademarks in customs records, and the inclusion of training activities for Japanese trademarks in the approved training plan of the administration for the year 2022, in addition to the exchange of data, information and practices are used by the two parties serving the protection of intellectual property rights.
The episode provided a visual presentation of the role played by the General Administration of Customs in protecting society and consumers in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and the mechanisms and procedures of Abu Dhabi Customs’ work in applying and implementing instructions and measures for intellectual property rights and trademarks, combating counterfeiting and piracy and raising awareness about the dangers of consuming counterfeit materials.
