After two years of dedicated work on the front lines of dealing with complex cases in the intensive care unit, and also the difficult confrontation with the case of Covid-191, Shereen Marie Babu, a nurse at a hospital in Abu Dhabi, welcomed her first child at. midnight at Eid al-Adha.

Baby Siria Mary Rooney was born to Indian parents Shereen and Ronnie Alexander at. 00:00 at Medeor Hospital, Abu Dhabi, on the Blessed Day Eid Al-Adha.

The baby’s birth, Syria, on Eid Day doubled the family’s joy, as did Sherine’s colleagues working at the same hospital as her colleagues and friends joined the family to welcome the new baby and share her happiness.

Baby Syria, who was born with a weight of 2,860 kg, is in good health and in excellent general condition.

As an ICU nurse at Medeor Hospital, Shireen has worked actively on the front lines over the past two years, handling complex COVID-19 cases during the height of the pandemic and supporting long-term COVID-19 patients at the ICU for weeks.

While on duty, she contracted a serious infection with COVID-19 in June 2021. She experienced symptoms such as high fever and difficulty breathing and was admitted to the hospital where she worked. She was discharged from the hospital a few days later after recovering from complications.

Shireen’s colleagues in the intensive care unit came to visit her with chocolates and gifts in the middle of the night to share their wishes with the family. “This Eid al-Adha is very special to us. Shireen is one of our family. She was a brave warrior on the front lines. Welcoming Angel Seria on this blessed day is a happy and proud moment for all of us.”

“We wish the girl and her family a healthy and happy life,” said Dr. (Professor) Walid El-Sherbiny, Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Head of the Gynecology Department at Medeor Hospital.
