reckless Star Charlie Cox explained why it doesn’t make sense for Marvel Studios to pick up where the Netflix series left off.

It’s no secret that Charlie Cox is back in the MCU as Daredevil, and it’s also clear that he won’t be the same version we saw in the Netflix series. The same goes for Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin, who also recently returned. During a recent appearance at the Middle East Film and Comic Con event in Abu Dhabi, the reckless The star first admitted that he needs to be careful what he says:

“I’ve learned that it’s best not to speculate out loud in public because that becomes a headline and then you establish it, you start warping expectations and then it turns into a conversation about whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing, so I’ve learned to keep that to myself. I think it’s better when you let the real creative force behind these shows figure out what they think is best on their own instead of putting ideas into their heads. That’s my opinion, so I’m not going to speculate for certain, in any detail.”

Charlie Cox went on to defend the idea of restart daredevil in the Marvel Cinematic Universe instead of continuing the events of the Netflix series:

“The only thing I would say is… I don’t think it’s… I don’t think there’s any point in continuing where we left off. I think… according to a lot of things in the MCU right now, where there’s this kind of reality, stuff. that alternate. You know what they did in Spider-Man [No Way Home] other [Into the Spider-Verse]… so it’s a good time to have this, you know, there’s been… it’s been a few years, you know, and now I don’t know if it’s Daredevil but maybe it’s not quite… it’s reinvented. It is slightly different. It’s… you know what I sent to one of my friends when I found out all this was going on? He has been born again. You know, it’s like an homage to… so, you know, the sky’s the limit. We’ll see.”

Directed by Jon Watts from a screenplay written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, Spider-Man: No Way Home stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jacob Batalon, Jon Favreau, Jamie Foxx, Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina, Benedict Wong, Tony Revolori, Marisa Tomei, Andrew Garfield, Tobey Maguire, and Charlie Cox.

Spider-Man: No Way Home screens in theaters and arrives digitally on March 22, while 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray and DVD editions will be available in stores on April 12.
