DUBAI, 10th February, 2023 (WAM) — Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) Women’s Committee, in cooperation with Dubai Women Establishment (DWE), organised the 2nd Dubai Government Women Committees Forum, to highlight the constructive ideas and innovative initiatives launched by the government organisations to empower women and enhance their active contribution in all fields.

The forum was held at DEWA Campus for Occupational and Academic Development. It witnessed the participation of 14 women committees from various Dubai government departments and organisations. It featured panel discussions and brainstorming sessions to exchange knowledge, experiences, and success stories.

DEWA is the first organisation, after DWE, to organise this event. A detailed report will be presented to DWE about the key outcomes of the forum.

“We support the inspirational model of women empowerment instilled by the late Founding Father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. This model is supported by the vision of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai ; and H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF),” said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA.

“We are committed to providing a positive and motivational environment that supports women in the workplace and helps them turn challenges into opportunities, to consolidate their participation in achieving sustainable development. DEWA is one of the national organisations that support women in the energy sector, especially in clean and renewable energy and sustainability. It provides equal opportunities for men and women, focusing on empowering women in senior and technical positions. This makes it a role model for public and private government organisations inside and outside the UAE,” he added.

Fatima Al Jokar, Chairperson of DEWA Women’s Committee, said, “DEWA Women’s Committee organises events, activities, and benchmarking. It participates in local and international events to exchange knowledge and expertise and promote cooperation. The Committee is keen to have effective partnerships with the concerned authorities and organisations, to provide female employees with the necessary expertise and knowledge. It provides all opportunities and capabilities that enable women employees in different positions to succeed and develop. This achieves their happiness and that of their families.”
