Dubai Police upgrade fleet with SWAT super truck

W Motors, the UAE-headquartered automotive manufacturer unveiled; the GHIATH SWAT edition at the World Police Summit.

A Special Projects Division initiative, the GHIATH SWAT tactical response vehicle follows the release of the world’s most advanced security vehicle, the GHIATH Smart Patrol, which was officially launched at last’s year summit.

Designed, engineered and developed by W Motors in response to the demanding requirements of SWAT team operations.

Key exterior features of the GHIATH SWAT include a reinforced front push bar; tactical side and rear steps; weapons and ammunition mounting and storage systems; specialised police equipment storage; a crowd dispersal smoke system; two military grade infrared LED light system for night vision driving and surveillance; a covert infrared tracking lights and two high-intensity LED light-supported rear-mounted side pods; and nine surveillance cameras with number plate recognition capabilities.

The interior is no less impressive with facial recognition and driver behaviour-enabled surveillance cameras; a vehicle GPS tracker deployment system; real-time connectivity with the control center; plus, two rear seat-mounted removable military spec android tablets and four police body cam charging docks.

Unlike the previous model, the latest addition to the Dubai Police fleet has a built-in tracking system that allows the operations room to always be aware of its location. The newly designed Ghiath has been equipped with servers, screens and tablets, and a drone launch systems.

The vehicle was named by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Crown Prince of Dubai, after his falcon, this latest addition to the fleet is scheduled to be on the roads by next month.

Royal Visit

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, attended the opening day of the Summit. He was briefed about the products and services on display, including the latest technologies used in the areas of cybercrime prevention, security forecasting, digital currencies, surveillance and insurance, smart cities, and drones.

His Highness then visited the Experts Hub platform, which is being organised by the Dubai Police Scientists Council on the sidelines of the World Police Summit. The platform seeks to connect experts in the field of security and discuss trends and challenges in the sector. His Highness was also briefed on the innovative technologies being exhibited by international companies participating in the event.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan stressed the importance of international cooperation in implementing the rule of law, combating all forms of crime and facilitating the exchange of knowledge and expertise in the field. He also praised the UAE security forces for their efforts to maintain security and combat crime and their constant keenness to work with police agencies from across the world, as demonstrated by the hosting of the World Police Summit.
