The Roads and Transport Authority of Dubai has signed an agreement with the Australian “Bus Tech” group, with the aim of experimenting with the operation of an environmentally friendly, emission-free electric bus, to determine its applicability in the climatic conditions of the Emirate of Dubai .

The experiment also includes innovative technologies to improve customer service to ensure that the bus acts as a smart asset integrated with Dubai’s environmental mass transport system. The experiment will also measure the benefits and performance of the bus and seek driver and customer feedback, to identify areas for improvement.

The agreement was signed by Ahmed Hashem Bahrozyan, CEO of Public Transport Corporation, on behalf of the Authority, while it was signed by Dan Marks, CEO of Bus Tech Group.

Behrozyan said the agreement is the first agreement included in the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the authority and the Department of Transport and Main Roads of the Queensland Government of Australia to increase the level of co-operation between the two parties.

He reaffirmed the authorities’ eagerness to increase the number of electric and hybrid vehicles in his fleet.

Marks, for his part, stressed that the group looks forward to strengthening cooperation between the Queensland government and Dubai to facilitate the introduction of environmentally friendly zero-emission buses in the Dubai bus fleet.
