Sharjah, 5th October / WAM / The Department of Social Services in Sharjah, in collaboration with the Department of Awqaf in Sharjah, launched the “Barakat Al-Dar” project, which is an ongoing charity to support shelters for senior citizens and orphanages in the Department of Social Services in Sharjah.
Dr. Abdullah Al-Ketbi, director of the Maliha branch, said the initiative was launched on September 30 and will last for 3 years. It aims to collect donations to build a charitable endowment, which is a multi-storey building, profits from which go to spend on all the belongings, services, needs and supplies for senior citizens and children in need of social care. To give them all the necessities for a decent life, points out that this initiative is part of social responsibility and community integration projects.
It is noteworthy that “Barakat Al-Dar” was launched in 2016 as a voluntary opportunity, organized during the holy month of Ramadan, such as organizing activities and events for senior citizens, such as the daily collective iftar, which brings together senior citizens in public and private institutions and members of the community to participate parents of senior citizens and children who want to break their fast with them, but with the Covid pandemic, the initiative stopped due to social distancing and became a virtual initiative, and today a new one took form by launching endowment shares to support the role of shelter for the elderly and children.
