DUBAI, June 12 / WAM / His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of the Roads and Transport Authority, confirmed that the use of modern technologies and artificial intelligence contributed to the improvement of the bus link and its operational efficiency.
His Excellency pointed out that the Remote Bus Performance Monitoring Center helped reduce fuel consumption and crashes by 5-10%, while the “Citybrine” system is expected to contribute to a 17% increase in passenger numbers.
He unveiled a plan to qualify national competencies from newly qualified technical and practical to occupy future positions in the maintenance and service department through a comprehensive program comprising 11 tracks lasting 22 months, developing supervisory, administrative, technical and specialized skills in the nature of the bus maintenance department.
This happened during a meeting between His Excellency Al Tayer and the working group of the Public Transport Agency to review the results of the operation of the remote-controlled bus efficiency control center at the Al Quoz bus shelter in collaboration with FAMCO. The new buses are equipped to improve operational operation and support maintenance mechanism.
The system includes 47 types of warnings that cover the mechanical aspects of the bus, fuel consumption per. kilometers and the status of the safety devices on the bus The results of the first operating phase showed the system’s contribution to reducing fuel consumption by 5%. , 10% reduction in bus accidents during trips and reduction of customer complaints about drivers’ driving The system also helped to support the planning process for periodic and preventive maintenance of buses, improve the evaluation mechanism for drivers based on efficiency, raise traffic safety standards and increase the percentage of customers satisfaction. The company intends to expand the system in the future to include 316 additional buses.
During the meeting, the development of public transport network planning was presented through the “City Brain” system, which the authority intends to implement this year in collaboration with Alibaba, a system for managing urban traffic using artificial intelligence techniques and advanced algorithms, through which a large number of large data are analyzed, received from Nol maps, operated buses, the overall control center for transport systems and taxi data, and converted into information that can be used through instantaneous alarms to develop bus schedules, times and lines.
The Citybrain system is expected to increase the number of passengers by 17%, improve the average waiting time by 10% and improve the travel time and the average bus consumption by 5%.
Al Tayer stressed that RTA will continue to implement its mass transit development projects and provide an integrated infrastructure to achieve the well-being and happiness of Dubai residents by providing the best services and facilities to bus users.
The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority has recently opened 6 new public bus stations: Al Ghubaiba, Al Jafiliya, Etisalat, Al Ittihad, Oud Metha and Satwa.
