Emirates News Agency – United Arab Emirates and Canada sign Memorandum of Understanding to establish Emirates Committee

ABU DHABI, 7 July, WAM / Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation hosted the virtual signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of a Joint Committee between the UAE and Canada.

The committee was chaired by Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemy, Prime Minister of International Cooperation, from the UAE side, and Rob Oliphant, Parliamentary Secretary to the Secretary of State, for Canada.

The signing ceremony was attended by His Excellency Fahad Saeed Mohammed Al Raqbani, UAE Ambassador to Canada, and Marcy Grossman, Canada’s Ambassador to the UAE.

Commenting on the Memorandum of Understanding, His Excellency Al Raqbani said: “The United Arab Emirates and Canada have close relations and the two countries have worked for a long time to continue economic development and political cooperation as the mainstay of their relations.

Our two countries will work through the UAE-Canadian Joint Committee to strengthen efforts to achieve more cooperation and prosperity for the two friendly countries and peoples.

We welcome this important step in the relations between the Canadian emirates and look forward to the fruitful results of this cooperation. ”

On her part, Grossman said: “I am pleased to witness the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding to establish the Joint Committee between the UAE and Canada. This memorandum reflects the economic partnership between our two countries and our cooperation in tackling global challenges such as climate change, women’s empowerment, peace and security. Today marks the beginning of a new chapter in our relationship as we move forward together to build a better and safer world. ”

At the end of the meeting, the two sides reaffirmed their mutual commitment to strengthen bilateral cooperation and their desire to hold the first round of the Joint Committee between the UAE and Canada.
