by Dubaiforum

This summer season, travelers departing from Riga Airport will have a wide selection of 105 direct flight destinations to choose from. The airport is set to introduce new flight routes to popular holiday spots in southern Europe, as well as increase connectivity with the Balkan region. The summer season will see Riga Airport become a base for Norwegian airlines, while flydubai will join the list of airlines operating at the airport in the autumn.

The national airline airBaltic will offer a range of new summer flights, including routes to Ljubljana, Tirana, Sofia, Skopje, Chisinau, and Pristina starting in late April and early May. In October, airBaltic will also launch regular flights to Madeira for the winter season. Norwegian will expand its network of direct flight routes from Riga Airport to include leisure destinations like Tivat and Corfu.

British Airways will continue its successful winter flights between Riga and Heathrow Airport in London throughout the summer. In October, flydubai will start offering flights between Riga and Dubai three times a week, bringing the total number of airlines operating at Riga Airport to 21, with direct connections to 44 countries.

Overall, the number of regular and charter flights at Riga Airport is expected to increase by five percent compared to the previous summer season, with up to 1,200 passenger flights per week. airBaltic will increase its flight frequency by 16 departing flights per week, while Ryanair will double the number of flights on the Riga-Stockholm route and increase frequencies to Dublin, Krakow, and Rome. Uzbekistan Airways will increase the number of flights to Tashkent, and LOT and Lufthansa will also increase flight frequencies to Warsaw and Frankfurt respectively.

The summer flight season will kick off with the transition to summer time on March 30-31, so passengers are advised to carefully plan their arrival time at the airport to adjust for the time change.
