by Dubaiforum

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Water Award has gained significant attention, prompting the UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia UAE) to extend the application deadline for the 4th cycle. This prestigious award, under the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, offers a total of US million in prizes.

The goal of the award is to discover sustainable and innovative solutions to combat water scarcity on a global scale. Companies, research and development centers, research institutes, innovators, and youth from all corners of the world are invited to participate by submitting their applications by the end of May 2024.

One of the key focuses of this award is to promote the development of groundbreaking projects, technologies, and prototypes in water desalination and purification, particularly those utilizing renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, biomass, hydropower, osmotic power, and geothermal technologies.

This initiative is in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who is committed to tackling water scarcity challenges. The ultimate aim is to find sustainable solutions that guarantee access to fresh water for vulnerable communities and groups worldwide, ensuring a better future for generations to come.

By supporting Goal 6 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030, which focuses on clean water and sanitation for all, the award places a strong emphasis on innovation and technology investment to help underdeveloped societies achieve sustainable development goals.

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Water Award has become a beacon for institutions, research centers, and innovators globally, serving as a platform for developing practical and sustainable solutions to the global water crisis through the use of renewable energy.

In the previous three cycles of the award, 31 winners from 22 countries have been recognized for their groundbreaking efforts. The award consists of four main categories: the Innovative Projects Award (including Large and Small Projects), the Innovative Research and Development Award (for National and International Institutions), the Innovative Individual Award (comprising the Distinguished Research and Youth Awards), and the Innovative Crisis Solutions Award.

Interested companies, research centers, institutes, innovators, and youth who have developed innovative water scarcity solutions are encouraged to register for the award by the updated deadline of May 31, 2024, at the official website, https://www.suqia.ae/.
