Historic Le Richemond Hotel Reopening in 2025 with Jumeirah Group

by Dubaiforum

Nestled on the banks of the placid Lake Geneva, the five-star Le Richemond reopening is big news and even bigger that it will now be part of the Jumeirah family. The hotel is a historic landmark, surrounded by serene waters and towering Alps, offering a secluded escape and centre to various boutiques and restaurants.

The Dubai-based Jumeirah Group acquired the property this year and plans to revitalise the hotel after its brief pause in business in August 2020. Le Richemond is Jumeirah’s fifth European investment and is part of its plan to become a globally recognizable luxury hotel operator. The group welcomes Le Richemond to their European family among The Carlton Tower Jumeirah, and Jumeirah Lowndes Hotel in London, UK; Capri Palace Jumeirah on the island of Capri, Italy; and Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel & Spa in Mallorca, Spain.

Le Richemond’s reopening is exciting as the property garnered a deluxe reputation since its conception in 1875. Family-owned and operated in its early years, Le Richemond became a destination for an international and famous clientele. Known for its art-deco architecture, the hotel preserves a vintage Genevan identity. Its long history has brought the property to acquire 109 keys with 87 rooms and 22 suites, with each room offering views of Lac Léman’s glassy waters and snowcaps of Mont Blanc.

Le Richemond has been a home-away-from-home to famous clientele across several generations, including Charlie Chaplin, Walt Disney, the Aga Khan, Clark Gable, Louis Armstrong, Rita Hayworth, Sophia Loren, Henry Kissinger, Michael Jackson, and Elton John. Jumeirah hopes to continue the hotel’s luxury reputation and loyal patronage with Le Richemond reopening in 2025.

Le Richemond is a legendary property with a 140-year legacy and impeccable pedigree, and we are committed to preserving this heritage as we redesign the hotel,” said Katerina Giannouka, Chief Executive Officer of Jumeirah Group.

Geneva is an international political hub and a rich cultural destination. They pride themselves in their accessibility to museums, nature trails, high-end activities, and culinary arts. Jumeirah is known for its renowned culinary expertise and is eager to put a Swiss twist on its version of unique dining concepts. The re-launch of this property as a new ultra-luxury hotel in Geneva following the completion of the planned renovation works (expected in 2025) will support the city’s tourism economy, attracting domestic and international business visitors and leisure.
