Dnata Successfully Integrates Drones into Warehouse Operations

Dnata, a leading air services provider, has implemented drones in its warehouse operations at Dubai International and Dubai World Central airports. The use of drones has resulted in a 20% reduction in processing times for rack inventories, with a shipment tracking accuracy of over 99%.

These drones have seamlessly integrated into the day-to-day workflow and warehouse inventory processes, monitoring an average of 1,800 shipments per day across 2,400 rack locations. The software provided by Gather AI allows the drones to map the environment, collect inventory data, count cases, measure temperature, and read barcodes using their cameras without the need for additional active infrastructure.

By pairing the drones with a tablet, live inventory data is available in real-time, making it easily accessible for viewing on the tablet or a web dashboard. Additionally, the use of drones has led to a reduction in dnata’s carbon footprint and improved safety by minimizing the need for mobile elevating work platforms and man lifts in the warehouse.

Looking ahead, dnata plans to introduce drones at more stations in the coming years. Guillaume Crozier, Senior Vice President for UAE Cargo and Global Cargo Strategy at dnata, expressed his satisfaction with the drones, stating that they have surpassed expectations and significantly improved efficiency levels. This, in turn, benefits airline customers by providing heightened accuracy, reducing turnaround times, and streamlining logistics operations.

Sankalp Arora, CEO and Co-founder of Gather AI, praised the collaboration with dnata, emphasizing how the implementation of autonomous inventory drones has transformed the air cargo ecosystem. Arora highlighted that these drones are not just futuristic concepts but operational game-changers that offer real-time transparency into the inventory and air cargo processes.
