Katie McGlynn looked super-stylish as she struck a pose on the red carpet at the Manchester Evening News Pride of Manchester Awards. Katie was looking smart in an elegant black corset suit as she joined the city’s finest at the Kimpton Clocktower Hotel.
The 28-year-old star from Rochdale, who recently returned from a trip to Dubai, was flooded with compliments as she shared a photo of her look on Instagram as she looked forward to the ceremony. She wore her new blonde hairstyle, after transforming into a brunette for her role as Hollyoaks’ Becky Quentin, in an elegant ponytail.
“All black everything,” she wrote on her Instagram. “Absolutely stunning!!!!” said Brooke Vincent. Fellow Hollyoaks star Chelsee Healey said “shut down” with love heart emojis. And Brooke added: “Love you so much!! you look amazing girl.”
Katie, who played the much-loved character Sinead Osbourne in Coronation Street from 2013 to 2019, credited her glam team including her stylist friend Ryan Kay for her look. And she gave a credit to the Barbara Boutique in Dubai for her ‘glow.’
Speaking to the Manchester Evening News on the red carpet Katie, who attended the awards with her friend Lee Bennett, said: “One thing I said is that I really need some tissues. I’m so excited to be here.”
She added: “I love Manchester. We’re both from Manchester. This is our home. To see the best, amazing people tell their stories I’m so excited.”
Katie was highly-praised for her portrayal of new mum and newlywed Sinead as the ITV soap aired some of its most harrowing scenes. Viewers were heartbroken as Sinead slipped away after she battled cervical cancer in an awareness-raising storyline.
At the 2020 National Television Awards she won best serial drama performance and dedicated the award to her late grandad. “I want to thank someone who is not here tonight. My grandad, who passed away,” she began.
“He always supported me through acting, he took me to all my acting classes and auditions. When I was younger and I got my first TV role he said, that’s brilliant Katie. I said, are you happy grandad? He said ‘yes I am happy with that. ‘But when are you going to get on Coronation Street?'”
She added: “In all seriousness I want to dedicate this award to any woman who is going through cervical cancer right now, who has gone through cervical cancer, all the families that are going through it, stay strong.”
